I’m in the club!

16 Apr

Well, I’ve officially been tagged in my first Q&A by my dear friend (and introductress, if you will, to the IF blogging community, Cristy at Searching for Our Silver Lining) and I couldn’t be more excited to participate!

Here are the rules:
1. Post the rules.
2. Answer the questions the tagger set for you in their post.
3. Create 11 new questions to ask the people you’ve tagged.
4. Tag 11 people and link them to your post.
5. Let them know you’ve tagged them.

1. What do you want to be when you grow up?
Happy. And healthy. And with any luck, a mom.

2. Do you have a favorite season? Which one and why?
Fall, easily. And it’s only grown since moving to New England. Fall feels like new beginnings. I love that fresh chill in the air, pumpkin-y things, apple picking, cider donuts, and the start of the holidays.

3. What is your fondest memory (childhood, teenagehood or adulthood)?
Tough one. First thing that comes to mind: remembering the early days of my relationship with my husband. We were just kids (in high school). I love thinking of the night we met, our first date, our first kiss. We were so awkward and clumsy and crazy in love, right from the start. We still are most of those things.

4. Name one thing you absolutely love about your sweetheart.
Hard to choose just one, honestly. But I suppose most of all, his staunch and unwavering love. I’d fall to pieces without it.

5. Speaking of music: Hip-hop or hard rock?
Hip hop.

6. Tell me one thing you did in the past week you are proud of.
I kept my house fairly clean all week and it helped my sanity hugely. I’m proud of that!

7. Tell me one thing you love about your body.
My small, ladylike hands and feet.

8. What was your favorite childhood toy?
I honestly can’t think of just one. I guess I’ll say the life-sized play stove I got for Christmas one year. It made the sound of sizzling when you “turned on” the burners.

9. Share a funny story.
This is more embarrassing than funny but last week, I was riding the elevator with my two bosses (the CEO and the president of my company) and another co worker and the president spotted some tea in my lunch bag with a pink package. “What flavor is the pink tea?” she asked. I guess the conversation had lulled and she was just trying to make small talk. I was immediately mortified and could not think on my feet. It was my Women’s Moon Cycle tea. I pulled it out and showed everyone, somewhat sheepishly. She just said, “Well, I asked and I got my answer!” Mortifying!

10. Looking back on this journey, what is one thing infertility has taught you?
Certainly not just one thing but I’ll say, I’ve learned my own strength and resilience more than anything. It’s something of a comfort to know I can withstand some of my worst fears.

11. Finally, in honor of Mel’s picky eater posts, share with us the one food you think everyone needs to try before they die. Explain why.
Ethiopian food, because it’s just delicious. My hubby is half Ethiopian and grew up there. He introduced me to the food and I absolutely love it. It’s one of my favorite types of food!  If you’re ever in the D.C. area, that’s the best place to go! I can give you some recommendations.

Here are my questions!

1. What’s your lucky number and why?

2. Do you still live in the place where you grew up? Why or why not?

3. Name one goal you have for yourself this week.

4. What’s your favorite item of clothing or jewelry in your closet right now?

5. If you could only have five kinds of cheese for the rest of your life, which five would you choose?

6. Do you have any tattoos? If so, tell me about them. If not, would you ever get one?

7. If your significant other was an animal, what animal would he or she be?

8. Are you an early riser or a night owl?

9. Would you rather be a dog named Killer or a cat named Fluffy?

10. How has infertility changed you?

11. Tell me about your oddest quirk.

And here’s who I’d love to hear from. Most of you don’t know me as I’ve only just recently started following your blogs – but I’d be stoked if you answered my questions! If you’ve already been tagged, I apologize.
